Crocker points out the differences in his firm's approach. "I believe that
the term 'design/build' does not fully define our mission. We call our approach
team build, where we work with the owner directly, involve the appropriate
design professionals, bring in the specialty contractors with the expertise the
project requires, and build the project, meeting the owner's expectations as to
cost, functionality, and aesthetics. The key difference is that we are all part
of the team. We are all involved in the process as the budget and the design are
developed concurrently and we all commit to making it successful. Throughout the
process of building the team and designing the project, we make our
selections based on the best value, rather than the cheapest price. When the
team completes the project, the owners have the best value for their individual
needs. The team build concept produces a win-win situation for everyone
concerned," he explained.
Crocker Construction is a committed member of the downtown Jackson community.
Mr. Crocker was honored to server as a member of the Tornado Recovery Task Force
and currently serves on the board of the Jackson Downtown Development
Corporation (JDDC), an organization dedicated to improving the aesthetic and
economic viability of the city's historic downtown area. He also serves on the
board of Habitat for Humanity, working to bring quality, affordable housing to
the East Jackson community.
From the windows of the offices in the historic New Southern Building on
Court Square, he has watched with pride as the downtown area recovered from the
devastating effects of the May 4th tornado, and proud of his company's
participation in it. Since May 2003, Crocker Construction Company has been
helping businesses and organizations make plans for rebuilding and refurbishing
damaged property in the downtown and East Jackson areas damaged by the storm's
path. In some cases, that meant making plans for restoration, negotiating with
the insurance adjusters, and providing information to and meeting with lenders
in order to accomplish their restorative needs. The projects were numerous. The
results have been gratifying.
